U.S. News and World Report has ranked Rogers State University as the top university in the state of Oklahoma in two categories. The rankings were released Monday, Sept. 18, as part of U.S. News and World Report’s “2024 Best Colleges” rankings for colleges and universities.
RSU ranked 10th on the list of “Top Public Schools – Regional Colleges of the West,” the highest ranking for any college or university in the state of Oklahoma. The “West” region includes 15 states, ranging from Oklahoma and Texas, all the way to California and the west coast.
Rogers State received another top rating in the state of Oklahoma, ranking 31st on the list for “Overall Rank – Regional Colleges of the West,” again beating out all other institutions in the state.
RSU received recognition in the 35th position for “Top Performers on Social Mobility – Regional Colleges of the West,” the second highest ranking for any college or university in the state. This ranking is based on an institution’s success at graduating students who receive Federal Pell grants, as well as additional factors including graduation rates for first generation college students.
“Our rankings by U.S. News and World Report serve as validation of our efforts to provide the highest quality in academics as we prepare our graduates for the workplace, all while maintaining affordability,” said RSU President Dr. Larry Rice. “I am so grateful to our students, faculty, staff, administrators and alumni who continue to make Rogers State University such a special place. There is no better university in the state of Oklahoma to earn a degree and prepare for your career than right here at RSU.”
U.S. News and World Report determines rankings by placing each school into a category based on its mission and by its geographic region of the U.S. (North, South, Midwest and West). U.S. News then gathers data from and about each school to measure academic excellence using 19 factors for the National Universities, among these, graduation rates, first-year-retention rates, graduation rate performance, peer assessment, borrower debt, student-faculty ratio, full-time faculty and more.
Each indicator is designated a weight based on researched judgements about which measures of quality matter most. Lastly, colleges are ranked based on their overall scores.
Data for the 2024 edition of Best Colleges was gathered by U.S. News in the spring and early summer of 2023.
Rogers State University is a regional four-year university serving northeastern Oklahoma and is the only four-year public residential university in the Tulsa metropolitan area. For more information about RSU or to apply, visit www.rsu.edu.
