The Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation donated $1,000 to the university in December to support RSU’s on-campus food pantry for students.
Daniel Wells, Sodexo general manager for Dining Services at RSU, presented the check to President Dr. Larry Rice and students Tyler Fielder and Alexandra Culp, who have been key student leaders in this initiative. Culp is a junior medical/molecular biology major from Claremore and Tyler is a business administration senior from Tuttle.
More than 250 colleges and universities applied for grants through the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation, and RSU was one of only 20 schools nationally to be awarded funds.
RSU’s student food pantry is operated out of RSU’s Residential Life offices to benefit students who might need temporary assistance regarding food security. The program seeks to increase college students’ access to nutritious foods so that they can focus on their health, well-being, and academic success.
