“Wild, Wild West” is the theme of the seventh annual Rogers State University Foundation Scholarship Auction and Dinner, which will feature a festive evening of food and music and the opportunity to bid on a variety of unique live and silent auction items, ranging in value from five to several thousand dollars.
The auction, which is open to the public, will be held during the evening of Friday, April 29, in the Ballroom of the Centennial Center on the RSU campus in Claremore. Western attire is encouraged.
Doors will open and silent auction bidding will begin at 5:30 p.m., a chuckwagon buffet will be available at 6:30 p.m. and the live auction will begin at 7 p.m.
All proceeds from the event, sponsored by the RSU Foundation, will provide scholarships for RSU students. The cost to attend the auction is $30 per person or $300 for a reserved table of eight. Event sponsorships are still available, beginning at $500.
Tickets for $50 to purchase a chance to win $5,000 are available by contacting the RSU Foundation.
“The scholarship auction has become one of the premier social and philanthropic events in the Claremore area,” said Tonni Harrald, RSU director of development and organizer of the event. “But more importantly, we will be raising much-needed scholarship funds for deserving students.”
This year’s live auction items include a three-day sailing trip for four people off the coast of North Carolina, provided by Captain Les and Susanne Pendleton and Jim and Kay Harrison; a vacation in Beaver Creek, Colo., provided by Nash and Dana Lamb; a holiday in Branson, Mo., provided by Bill and Sue Harris; golf outing at Spyglass Hill in Pebble Beach, Calif., provided by Dennis and Linda Coons; dinner for 10 people prepared by an award-winning chef, provided by Dennis and Linda Coons; and two Southwest Airlines tickets to anywhere the airline flies, provided by Blaine and Margaret Jones.
Silent auction items include dinners at area restaurants, vacation packages, jewelry, certificates for services, a variety of art, RSU athletic items and more.
Auction items may still be contributed to the RSU Foundation for the auction. Those interested in making tax-deductible contributions to the auction should contact the RSU Foundation.
