Rogers State University will kick off its series of Senior Day events this weekend. Senior Day is a college preview day for high school seniors and a guest designed to help students and their families make important decisions in all aspects of college life.
“No matter where you are in the college search process, a campus visit is hands-down the best way to get to know the true identity of a campus culture,” Lee Johnson, director of admissions, said. “Becoming more familiar with the community culture surrounding the campus plays a pivotal role in making that final decision.”
In the past, Senior Day has been a one-day event. Because of COVID-19, the university has taken precautions to ensure the safety and health of all visitors to campus.
“We have lowered our capacity numbers and created three exciting opportunities, October 31, November 14 and November 21, for seniors to experience the beautiful campus of RSU,” Lee said.
Throughout the day students engage with current students and faculty, learn about financial aid and scholarship opportunities, tour on-campus housing and dining, as well as participate in a student organization browse session.
Students and their guest will then rotate through a series of academic panels to explore majors and degree options, in addition to internship and graduate school opportunities as they move through their educational journey. This year RSU will be giving out $10,000 in scholarships across its three Senior Day events.
“Senior Day is the event where students solidify their decision to be an RSU Hillcat“ Addison Sewell, campus visits and events coordinator, said. “You need to feel at home and supported by your college to have the best experience possible. And you can do that, right here at RSU.”
RSU offers bachelor’s and associate degree programs in Oklahoma’s top 10 fastest-growing industries. These include traditional programs such as health care, business administration, applied technology, psychology and sociology, communications, humanities and criminal justice as well as emerging fields such as Esports, game development and environmental conservation.
Many students from northeast Oklahoma who plan to attend medical school complete their undergraduate studies through RSU’s program in medical/molecular biology. RSU’s nursing program, including its online RN2BSN program, is among the best in Oklahoma. The university also offers an accelerated MBA program available online.
RSU is consistently recognized as one of the region’s most affordable colleges, with more than half of last year’s graduates earning their degree without student loan assistance.
