Rogers State University’s Office of Student Affairs wants to help students play it safe heading into spring break with a week of fun and informative activities. Spring Safety Week runs March 11-14, while RSU’s spring break takes place the following week, March 18-22.
Spring Safety Week kicks off Monday, March 11, with “Sand, Sun, and Safety.” From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center patio, where students can partake in beach ball bowling, enjoy alcohol-free drinks at the mocktail tiki bar, and get free sunscreen and safety tips about protecting oneself in the sun.
On Tuesday, March 12, “Cupcakes and Condoms” will promote positive sexual behaviors, mental and physical wellness, and healthy attitudes for all students. Free cupcakes and safer sex materials, including condoms, will be available. This event will be held 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center.
Also Tuesday, NEDA (National Eating Disorder Awareness) Campus Warriors will host a discussion titled “Learn How to Eat with an Eating Disorder,” offering tips on self-care from 6-7 p.m. in the Residential Life Clubhouse Courtyard. Participants will receive healthy eating recipe cards and will be able to make their own trail mix bar.
On Wednesday, “Substance Abuse: Myth v. Facts” will be held in the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center lobby. This event will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Spring Safety Week wraps up Thursday with a “Car Check and Go,” which will help RSU students planning to travel for spring break. This event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the RSU Campus Police Department. A joint effort of Student Affairs, Campus Police and the Physical plant, this event encourages students to get their vehicle checked for road-readiness before leaving campus without even having to get out of their car or truck. Volunteers will perform a tire pressure and oil check, refill windshield wiper fluid, and provide a free fragrance tree air freshener. Additionally, all participants will be entered to win a roadside emergency kit for their vehicle.
Rogers State University’s Office of Student Affairs invites all students to participate in this week of activities to be equipped and informed for a fun, safe spring break the following week.
RSU’s spring break will be held from Monday, March 18, through Friday, March 22, during which time, campus offices will be closed.
