“Lunch on the Hill,” a picnic lunch and public address by Rogers State University President Dr. Joe Wiley, will be held on Friday, Sept. 12, on the RSU campus in Claremore. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be sponsored by Reasor’s Food Store.
A free picnic lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m. on the lawn between Meyer Hall and the Will Rogers Auditorium. Wiley will provide a “State of the University” address at approximately 12:15 p.m.
Those attending the lunch may bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets. Some seating will be provided. In the event of rain, the event will be moved into Post Hall. Parking will be available west of Post Hall and west of the RSU Library.
“We’d like to invite the community to visit our beautiful campus and hear about all the exciting developments at the university,” Wiley said. “I’d also like to give the public an idea of where we’re going in the next few years.”
This fall, RSU is offering a new bachelor of science degree in business administration. The degree, with an option in either accounting or management, is designed to provide graduates with the knowledge to apply the functions of business in the increasingly competitive global economy. RSU was granted formal approval in April by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association to begin offering the degree.
Later this year, the university expects to complete construction of a $4 million library and classroom facility on the Claremore campus. In addition, the university has begun refurbishment of Bushyhead Fieldhouse to improve student health and wellness facilities and renovation of Ledbetter Hall to serve as housing for students and their families. In addition, several new parking lots are being built to accommodate the rapidly growing campus in Claremore.
The RSU Foundation will host the picnic lunch and members of the foundation’s board of directors will serve lunch to guests. For more information, call 343-7768.
