Rogers State University Senior Hannah Lovy has been accepted to the Master of Accountancy program at the University of Tulsa for fall 2021. The Sapulpa native received a merit-based scholarship that will cover 75 percent of her tuition.
“This scholarship makes it possible to obtain the next step in my educational journey without worrying about how I am going to pay for it. It will allow me to focus more fully on my studies, so I can do my best and learn as much as possible,” Lovy said.
Lovy will graduate with a bachelor’s in business administration in May. She has worked part-time in the RSU Foundation office working closely with the accountant to mentor and guide her in preparation for the one-year program.
“Hannah’s desire to excel along with her ability to take the initiative has made her an important part of the Development Office, from assisting with our accounting operations to gift processing. In my nearly 30 years of supervising student workers, she one of the best I’ve ever seen. It’s no wonder that she was accepted for graduate study at her first choice,” Steve Valencia, vice president for development, said.
RSU’s small class sizes just felt like home for Lovy.
“I grew up attending a small private school. I enjoyed being in a setting where my teachers knew me by name, and it wasn’t hard to know other students. RSU has that same sense of community, and I was drawn to it,” Lovy said.
After graduating from TU, Lovy plans to take the CPA exam to earn her license and work in tax accounting. She hopes to earn a Ph.D. to become a professor.
