A rededication ceremony for the recently renovated Markham Hall will be held on Monday, Oct. 28 at Rogers State University.
The public is invited to the ceremony that will begin at 2 p.m. on the west entrance of the historic building. A plaque will be unveiled at the ceremony.
Members of the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents – RSU’s governing board – will participate in the ceremony. The regents are holding their monthly meeting on the RSU campus.
The renovated facility serves as a “one-stop shopping” location for advising, enrollment, financial aid and a variety of other services for students. The building also houses the studios of RSU-TV and RSU Radio.
This major remodeling project allowed us to consolidate important student services under one roof,” said RSU President Dr. Joe Wiley. “The facility offers our students convenience and efficiency as they apply, enroll and seek advising.”
Graber & Imel Architects and Builders Unlimited of Tulsa coordinated the $1.25 million renovation.
Markham Hall was built in 1926 as a residential barracks facility and gymnasium for the cadets and staff of the Oklahoma Military Academy. It was completed in 1926. The building was named for Maj. Gen. Baird H. Markham, the commanding general of the 45th Division and a member of the institution’s board of regents at the time. It overlooks Douglas Lake near the southeast entrance of the campus.
