A variety of scholarships are available to students interested in participating in music and theatre during the upcoming fall semester at Rogers State University.
The new, talent-based scholarships will be awarded in the form of tuition waivers in the amounts of $500 to more than $1,000 per year.
Students will be required to audition to be eligible for the scholarships. All candidates must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or above (including high school students, current college students and transfer students.) All awards will be based on in-state tuition rates.
Auditions for the new RSU music program, which includes jazz and pep bands, will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 7. For more information on music auditions and scholarships, call Joseph Cernuto, RSU band director, at (918) 343-7723.
Auditions for theatre scholarships will be held on Saturday, March 10. Those interested in auditioning for the theatre program should contact Dr. David Blakely, assistant professor and theatre program coordinator, at (918) 343-7541.
Recipients of music scholarships will be required to participate as a member of the RSU jazz or pep bands. Those receiving theatre scholarships will be required to participate in at least one theatre production per semester (two per year.) Scholarship awardees musts maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 throughout the year to remain in good academic standing, allowing them to re-apply for the scholarships for the next year. The scholarships will be available for up to four years of study.
