Rogers State University will be hosting a Valentine’s dance in honor of all veterans, active duty personnel and their sweeties on Friday, Feb. 13.
The Generations Valentine’s Dance will begin with a buffet dinner at 6 p.m. Phil Sample, RSU history and political science instructor and Vietnam War veteran, will give a keynote speech.
The dance will be held in the new RSU Student Center and is free and open to the public. The buffet dinner is free for veterans, members of the military and children age three and younger. The dinner is $7 for students and $10 for adults.
“This dance is a way for RSU students to show our appreciation to all the men and women who have served, or are still serving our country,” said RSU student Renee Morse, president of the Objectivist Club and parliamentarian for the Student Government Association. “We want to hear your war stories.”
The RSU Jazz Band will play World War II-era music and everyone is encouraged to bring their dancing shoes and have some fun, Morse said.
Veterans and members of the military are encouraged to wear their dress uniforms.
The event is sponsored by the RSU Objectivist Club, SGA, RSU Jazz Band and the College Republicans. More information is available by calling 343-7579.
