The Rogers State University Music Program is partnering with the Claremore Symphony League to host a November 8 concert by the Tulsa Symphony Brass Quintet and Woodwind Quintet.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Will Rogers Auditorium on the RSU campus in Claremore.
This is the second year that RSU has partnered with the CSL and the Tulsa Symphony to offer these concerts. “We are very happy to be able to bring this caliber of performance to the RSU campus and the Claremore community,” said RSU Band Director Dr. Kirk Weller.
The concert will feature classical pieces like “Minuet” from G. F. Handel’s “Water Music” and Henry Purcell’s Sonata in D as well as more modern works including “I’ve Got Rhythm” by George Gershwin and “Phantom of the Opera” by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
There will be a wine and cheese reception following the concert in the Foundations Art Gallery in Baird Hall.
Tickets are available at the door for $5. Patrons of the Symphony League and students with ID are free.
The Claremore Symphony League is a charitable organization with its sole mission to raise funds to support music education and performance in Rogers County and the surrounding area.
In addition to bringing ensembles from the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra to Claremore, the League offers Master Classes to area band students to better prepare them for honor band auditions, provides grants to area public school music teachers and helps fund the Claremore High School Musical Theatre program.
