RSU to Host ‘Distance After Dark’ Sept. 5 at Mohawk Sports Complex

RSU will host “Distance After Dark” Sept. 5 at Mohawk Sports Complex in Tulsa.

 

Run, don’t walk, to the return of a unique sporting event this week.

Hosted by RSU cross country, “RSU Distance After Dark” will feature high school and college teams in a cross-country track meet under the lights at the Mohawk Sports Complex Thursday evening, Sept. 5. The event is presented by Tulsa Runner.

Sports enthusiasts are invited to bring their blankets or chairs, watch athletes compete and cheer on their favorite runners at a fun, family friendly event. Rogers State University fans are encouraged to wear their Hillcat gear while cheering on the athletes.

As one of the largest high school cross country meets in the state of Oklahoma, the event is expected to include more than 1,000 athletes from 34 high schools and numerous colleges and universities. Music will fill the air and concessions will be available for purchase.

The event will begin with the Open Division Girl’s 2-Mile race at 7:45 p.m., followed by the Open Division Boy’s 5k race at 8:15 p.m. The 5A and 6A Girl’s 5k is set to start at 8:50 p.m. with the 5A and 6A Boy’s 5k beginning at 9:25 p.m.

Following the high school races, the Hillcat men’s and women’s country teams will open their 2024 seasons as they host the third annual college meet. The women’s 5k is set to start at 10 p.m. with the men’s 4-Mile wrapping up the event at 10:30 p.m.

Mohawk Sports Complex is located at 3500 E. 56th Street North in Tulsa. There is no cost to attend the event and parking is free.
