Rogers State University students seeking a head start on their future careers or who are in search of internships or graduate programs are encouraged to attend the university’s upcoming Career, Internship and Graduate School Fair.
Slated for Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Conference Rooms B and C (upstairs) in the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center on the RSU Claremore campus, this event allows RSU students the opportunity to interact with prospective employers, as well as learn about internships, potential scholarships and various graduate degree programs available to them upon graduation.
According to RSU Career Services Coordinator Barry Clark, this event brings together diverse businesses, industries and companies with potential job opportunities for RSU students.
“We’ll have numerous organizations – from business to government agencies, from non-profit groups to military branches and more – available that day to meet with students, talk about potential career paths and maybe even hire them that day or upon the student’s graduation,” Clark said. “We’ve had as many as 300 students attend one of these events in the past, and we’re hoping for a good turnout again at this one as it brings employment opportunities to the students, rather than the students having to look for the employment opportunities.”
Companies may hire qualified students on the spot, offer them internships or offer employment upon graduation, but primarily, many of the agencies in attendance are hoping to present their company to students so students will consider remaining in the area and seeking career opportunities here, Clark said.
Attendees should bring copies of their resumes to share with potential employers and are encouraged to wear professional or business casual attire.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., free professional photos will be taken on site for use on LinkedIn or other social media usage.
Event participants may check in during the event at the Student Affairs table to receive a ticket for the chance to win one of four prizes to be given away: a weighted blanket, a Bluetooth speaker, an air fryer or a popcorn basket.
“We strongly encourage our students, but especially those who will be graduating soon, to come out and learn about the various companies in the region and discover the variety of career paths that are available,” Clark said.
