Rogers State University will host representatives from more than 40 state and regional universities later this month at an event to connect them with area high school students.
The Rogers County Area College Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, in the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center Ballroom on the university’s Claremore campus.
“This event is part of a series of college fairs from the GPACAC, which is the Great Plains Association for College Admission Counseling,” said Natalia Sumner, RSU campus visits and events coordinator. “At this event, there will be admission counselors from universities and institutions from across the region to meet with high school students – primarily seniors – about the next step in their education, and to answer any questions they might have about entrance requirements, applications, scholarships, campus life, and more.”
Universities currently committed to be attending the college fair include Rogers State University, Baker University, Bethel College, Cameron University, Emporia State University, Kansas State University, Langston University, Missouri Southern State University, Newman University, Oklahoma Army National Guard, Oklahoma Baptist University, Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma State University, Oral Roberts University, Tulsa Community College, University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, University of Denver, University of North Texas, University of Oklahoma, Wichita State University, and more.
As in other GPACAC college fairs, StriveScan will be used at this event to help keep the attendance process automated, allowing students to spend more time speaking with college representatives, as opposed to spending time filling out inquiry cards. This allows students to create an account and quickly share their information with schools in which they have interest.
“StriveScan is the best way for us to allow students to visit all the college representatives they want to connect with, instead of losing valuable time filling out information cards at each station,” Sumner said.
Additional Rogers County Area College Fair attendees are still being added.
