Claremore area musicians and RSU students are invited to attend an organizational meeting for the Rogers State University Pep Band on Thursday, Sept. 23.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Band Room 112 of the Old Student Union Building, located behind Preparatory Hall.
The RSU Pep Band plays during men’s and women’s basketball games from early November through February.
“Anyone who plays an instrument and is interested in performing with the ensemble is welcome to be a part of a growing and enthusiastic group,” said Dr. Kirk Weller, the new director of bands at RSU.
This year’s music will contain the usual athletic tunes of “Go Big Blue,” “The Hey Song,” and the “RSU Fight Song.” However, new tunes will be added this year, including “Iron Man” and short “time out” music including “Frankenstein,” “Conga,” “William Tell,” “Night on Bald Mountain” and “Hey Baby.”
“This a great opportunity to get together with friends to play some fun music and jam, as well as support exciting Hillcat basketball,” Weller said.
