Rogers State University students won a total of 16 awards at the 2025 Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association (OBEA) student media competition.
Held Thursday, April 3, at the River Spirit Event Center in Tulsa, the event allowed students to submit their work in Video, Audio, and New Media categories and compete against students from colleges and universities from across the state.
From RSU, submitting students are primarily Communications majors and minors.
Students took home nine first place awards in several categories, including audio commercial, video hard news package, video sports play-by-play, and multimedia journalism.

~ Skylar Scott: First Place, Public Service Announcement Audio; First Place, Social Media; Second Place, Personality Talent Reel Audio; and Second Place, Entertainment Talk Audio
~ Marty Babbit and James Steedman: First Place, Public Service Announcement Video
~ Jacob Groblebe and Tristan Kersker: Second Place, Sports Talk Audio
In addition to the awards, Skylar Scott also earned the 2025 OBEA Student Scholarship, a $2,500 scholarship awarded to five students each year.
The Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association is a statewide organization dedicated to supporting the education of future media professionals at Oklahoma colleges and universities. The 2025 Conference took place at the River Spirit Event Center in Tulsa. Each year the conference is attached to the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters professional conference, and includes awards, networking, and discussion panels with professionals.
Rogers State University’s Department of Communications offers the Bachelor of Arts in communications with emphases available in broadcasting and new media, communications arts, and strategic communications.
