Rogers State University students will broadcast RSU Hillcat baseball and softball games this spring on the university’s radio station starting April 4.
The Department of Communications and Fine Arts and RSU Radio (91.3 FM, KRSC) have organized students to students produce, report and announce the live broadcast of 11 baseball and softball games, said Cathy Coomer, RSU instructor and RSU Radio general manager.
“I am not only excited about the opportunity to offer this type of programming to our listeners on RSU Radio, but also the chance to give our students experience in the many facets of broadcasting,” she said.
The Hillcat baseball and softball games to be broadcast on the station include the following games:
- April 4, Hillcat softball versus Oklahoma City University, 2 p.m. doubleheader
- April 6, Hillcat softball versus Southwestern College, 2 p.m. doubleheader
- April 15, Hillcat baseball versus Mid-America Christian University, 1 p.m. doubleheader
- April 19, Hillcat baseball versus Northwestern Oklahoma State University, 1 p.m. doubleheader, location to be determined
- April 27, Hillcat softball versus Bacone College, 3 p.m., first game of doubleheader
- April 27, Hillcat baseball versus Northeastern State University, 6:30 p.m.
The Hillcat softball games are scheduled to be played at the Claremore High School softball field, while the RSU baseball games are scheduled to be played at Claremore Legion Field unless otherwise noted.
RSU students who will be announcing the games include Chris Anderson, Kalissa Money, Heath Poe and Chad Sevigny. Bryant Ferguson, Claremore High School Zebra football announcer, will also provide his services at several games. Each game will include students providing play-by-play announcing and color commentary.
