Rogers State University Public Television will launch its Festival 2013 annual membership drive on Thursday, April 25.
The event begins at 7 p.m. that day and will run through May 5. Festival 2013 will showcase the best of public television and feature a variety of programs designed to educate, entertain and inspire.
“Membership support is important for the station,” said Jennifer Sterling, program and membership manager. “The support from our members is critical to providing our ability to increase programming and services that our viewers enjoy.”
The station, located on the RSU campus in Claremore, reaches about 1.3 million people within a 75-mile radius of the campus and is Oklahoma’s only full-powered television station operated by a public university.
The drive will feature eight nights with live segments throughout the evening, with studio guests including area notables such as Beth Rengel, Karen Keith, Sam Jones, Jeff Lazalier, Mike Ziegenhorn and Angela Rosecrans.
Some special performances during Festival 2013 will include:
- Comedy favorite “Red Green: Hindsight is 20/20” at 7 p.m., Friday, April 26
- The newest show from Irish sensation Celtic Thunder entitled, “Celtic Thunder: Mythology” at 8:30 p.m., Saturday, April 27 and 7 p.m., Sunday, May 5
- Classic Gospel Tent Revival with The Gaithers at 7 p.m., Sunday, April 28
- “Josh Groban Command Performance” at 7 p.m., Friday, May 3
- Judy Collins “Live at the Metropolitan Museum of Art” at 8:30 p.m., Saturday, May 4
“This will be my first membership drive with RSU Public TV,” said Royal Aills, general manager of RSU Public TV, who joined the station in February. “I am confident we will continue to strengthen our ties with the community.”
RSU Public TV broadcasts on digital channel 35.1 and 35.2, Tulsa and Claremore Cable Channel 109 and SD 793, Cable Channel 4 in Bartlesville and Satellite Channel 35 across northeastern Oklahoma.
