RSU Public Television will host “Salsa in the Studio” on Thursday, May 5, during Destination Claremore.
“Salsa in the Studio” which is free and open to the public, will be held from 5-7 p.m., and will feature, “El Trio Balancán,” a three-man Latin band, a piñata for children, tours of RSU Public Television’s new high definition studio and production truck, and refreshments.
The festivities will be held in the parking lot behind Markham Hall on the RSU campus in Claremore.
Visitors will have an opportunity to appear in taped testimonials for the station while enjoying the festivities, said Dan Schiedel, RSU Public Television general manager.
RSU Public Television produces and broadcasts local public affairs, minority affairs, crafts, documentaries, and arts and cultural programming. The station also broadcasts live RSU Hillcat basketball games. In addition, the station presents a live distance learning course each semester.
The station’s production team has produced many award-winning documentaries as well as specials and community interest features.
RSU Public Television is licensed to Rogers State University and is the only public TV station operated by a university in Oklahoma. The station, based on the RSU campus in Claremore, reaches more than one million people within a 75-mile radius of the campus.
The station broadcasts on digital channel 35.1 and 35.2, Tulsa and Claremore cable channel 19, Cable Channel 4 in Bartlesville and satellite channel 35 across northeastern Oklahoma.
