Rogers State University’s Center for Economic and Community Development has prepared economic profiles for Rogers, Washington and Mayes counties to provide demographic, economic, residential and social data about the region.
Each county is the subject of an eight-page profile with information and analysis on population, demographics, household size, income, housing, education and employment for the county and its communities. The county profiles are available free from RSU’s Center for Economic and Community Development by calling (918) 343-7533 or by emailing requests to [email protected].
The center compiled the information and produced the profiles as a service to business, industry and entrepreneurs needing to know more about the business climate in the counties, said Dr. Ray Brown, RSU vice president for economic and community development. The reports were prepared for each of the counties where RSU operates a campus.
“Rogers State University, through the Center for Economic and Community Development, is committed to making available the university’s resources to advance economic development in northeastern Oklahoma and the communities we serve,” said RSU President Dr. Joe Wiley.
In addition, the Center produces and distributes a quarterly newsletter with analysis of Claremore and Rogers County economic indicators. The newsletter reviews information including sales tax collections, real estate sales, education, vehicle tags, lodging tax, utility hook-ups, building permits and labor statistics. The report is compiled and written by the center’s staff and Dr. Gary Marché, RSU assistant professor of business.
The center is an affiliate agency of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce’s State Data Center Program and provides economic and demographic data. Available resources include a computer center with high-speed Internet access, a library of electronic and printed materials, and an onsite professional staff. The center was established in 2002 to promote the region’s economic development by utilizing the university’s resources in partnership with local business, industry, and entrepreneurs.
The center’s professional staff provides assistance with business plans, financial planning, management, marketing, production and training. The center can also assist businesses with feasibility and marketing studies as well as survey research services. Most services are provided free of charge.
