Rogers State University has named Tom Volturo to serve as its interim athletics director while the university completes a national search to fill the position permanently, RSU President Dr. Larry Rice announced.
Volturo, who serves as RSU’s executive vice president for administration and finance, will guide the athletics department following the resignation of former athletics director Ryan Bradley, who left the university on June 21 to join the University of Memphis.
The university has advertised for the athletics director position, receiving strong interest from candidates nationwide, Rice said.
The university has initiated a search committee chaired by Dr. Keith Martin, dean of the School of Mathematics, Science and Health Sciences. University officials expect to fill the athletics director position on a permanent basis as soon as possible.
Volturo has maintained a close working relationship with the athletics department during his RSU tenure. He is familiar with the departmental operations through his role overseeing the university’s business functions.
Volturo has been with RSU since 2000, playing a pivotal leadership role in its transition from community college to regional university. Prior to joining RSU, he served as vice president for fiscal affairs and auxiliary enterprises for East Central University. He also has worked for the Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector’s Office, the Board of Regents of Oklahoma Colleges and Tulsa County.
