David Barron has been named director of financial aid at Rogers State University.
In that role, he is responsible for all financial aid functions, including contact with lenders and guarantors, counseling students and parents, originating and certifying loans, directing application and award procedures, providing oversight to the federal work-study program and awarding and managing aid to students.
Barron served as manager of student financial aid and scholarships at the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa since 2005. He also served as acting director of admissions and registrar while at OSU-CHS.
In addition, he served as director of financial aid at the Technology Education College – Kaplan Higher Education from 2003 to 2005, where he managed all financial aid functions. He was a site manager for AETEA Information Technologies – IBM/Bank One from 1999 to 2002, managing several functions, including employee recruitment, training of new employees, personnel issues, monitoring call centers, providing hardware and software support, managing databases and providing customer support.
Previously, he was computing coordinator/counselor for the financial aid office at Columbus (Ohio) State Community College and assistant director, customer service manager and counselor at the financial aid office at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa.
He has made several professional presentations at meetings of the Association of Financial Aid Administrators in Oklahoma and Ohio, and has received several honors and awards for his work at OSU, Kaplan and ORU. He has a long record of professional service at OSU, the Association of Financial Aid Administrators and various financial and lending institutions.
He received master’s and bachelor’s degrees in theological and historical studies from Oral Roberts University.
