Former Tulsa Police Chief Harry W. Stege has been hired as an assistant professor of criminal justice at Rogers State University.
He will join the faculty of RSU’s Department of Social and Behavioral Science, located in its School of Liberal Arts.
Stege served 28 years with the Tulsa Police Department, including his service as chief from 1978 to 1983. He was credited with being the first chief who was technology-oriented and recognized the importance of using computers in police work.
He has taught criminal justice courses at Northeastern (Okla.) State University, Tulsa Community College, Galveston (Tex.) Community College, and Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Tex. He also served as Chief of Police with Texas A&M at Galveston, Tex., and Texas A&M International.
Stege earned a master’s degree in public administration from Texas A&M International, and a law degree and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration, both from the University of Tulsa.
