Rogers State University students, faculty and staff are invited to join in the opening celebration for the new RSU Pryor campus at MidAmerica Industrial Park at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7.
The short program will be remarks by representatives from RSU, MidAmerica and the OU Board of Regents with a ceremonial ribbon cutting to conclude. The building will be open for tours following the program, with light refreshments available in the building’s dining center.
MidAmerica constructed the two-story, 38,400-square-foot building on behalf of the university in order to bolster educational opportunities for Mayes County-area residents and help address the region’s workforce needs. The largest single gift in the university’s history, the approximately $10 million project included site development and construction on the 83-acre property.Â
More than twice the size of the previous facility, the new RSU campus features classrooms, computer labs, science labs, library, student lounge, food service and dining facilities, bookstore, meeting rooms and a 150-seat auditorium to be used for classroom use and the general public.
RSU Pryor is joining other educational institutions at the park, including Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology and Northeastern Technology Center. MidAmerica is the nation’s only industrial park with this concentration of on-site educational facilities.
The building opened for operation on Jan. 2, and the first classes there will be held Monday, Jan. 13.
