Rogers State University Head Basketball Coach Justin Barkley has issued an open invitation to former men’s basketball team members to return to The Hill for an alumni weekend.
Slated for Friday, Nov. 11, and Saturday, Nov. 12, the RSU men’s basketball alumni reunion will be a comeback weekend for many faces familiar to the men’s basketball program.
“This (alumni weekend) is something I’ve wanted to do for a while now,” Coach Barkley said. “The (men’s basketball) program is 16 years old, and I’ve been here 15 of those years – two as assistant coach and 13 as the head coach. I wanted to plan an opportunity for our former players to come back to campus to reunite with their former team members, catch up, reminisce about old times and socialize with one another.”
Friday, Nov. 11, the evening will begin with the RSU men’s basketball team’s match against Southwest Minnesota State at 6 p.m. at the Expo Center, followed by a meeting of former players at the Hillcat Club Room.
Saturday, Nov. 12, the men’s team will play Concordia St. Paul at 2 p.m., also at the Expo Center, followed by the RSU Men’s Basketball Alumni Social at North Block Common at 5 p.m. with food to be catered.
“We’ve had a great tradition in our men’s program and we’re trying to get as many of our former players back as we can that weekend,” Coach Barkley said. “We want to make them feel welcomed back on The Hill and give them the chance to share one another’s company and talk about good memories.”
