The Rogers State University Jazz Ensemble will present the second concert of the fall season titled “Java ‘N Jazz” on Monday, Nov. 30.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Ballroom of the Centennial Center on the RSU campus in Claremore. The concert is free and open to the public, but donations will be accepted.
Coffee and apple cider will be served prior to and during the concert to create a more authentic jazz ensemble atmosphere, said Dr. Phillip Payne, RSU director of bands.
During the concert, the RSU Jazz Ensemble will perform a wide variety of favorites in addition to several well-known Christmas carols, Payne said. The ensemble will perform “Papa’s got a Brand New Bag” by James Brown, “Hey Jude” by the Beatles and a continuation of the chili pepper saga by well-known jazz music educator Doug Beach, “I Got Chili Pepper.”
