The Rogers State University Jazz Ensemble will present its first concert of the fall season on Monday, Oct. 12.
The concert, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Centennial Center on the RSU campus in Claremore. However, donations will be accepted.
The title of the concert will be “Free as a Bird,” said Dr. Phillip Payne, RSU music coordinator.
“We’re looking forward to this concert as a great kick-off to the fall season,” Payne said. “We hope everyone will come out to support the jazz ensemble and enjoy some great music.”
The concert will feature Weather Report’s jazz fusion hit “Birdland,” the jazz standard “Fly Me to the Moon,” and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s hit “Free Bird.” In addition, selections by Norah Jones, Duke Ellington and The Blues Brothers will be presented.
