The Rogers State University Jazz Band will give a free performance featuring jazz, rock and rhythm and blues on Thursday, March 13, in the historic Will Rogers Auditorium on the RSU campus in Claremore. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.
The program will consist of standard Jazz classics and some rock music, said Joe Cernuto, RSU band director.
RSU senior Nic Pranger will be featured in the Earl Hines classic “Harlem Nocturne.” The Spinners’ classic “Rubberband Man” will be featured as well, along with the Earth, Wind, and Fire favorite “September.” The performance will be rounded out by such hits as “Night in Havana,” “Chega de Saudade,” and “In the Mood,” Cernuto said.
In addition, auditions for RSU music scholarships will be held on Saturday, March 29, from 12 to 3 p.m. in Baird Hall on the Claremore campus. All full-time RSU musicians are eligible to audition for tuition waivers up to $1,400 dollars for the year.
