The Innovation Center at Rogers State University will hold an open house for the business incubator on May 27th to give start-up businesses an opportunity to learn how the center can help them in achieving their entrepreneurial goals through the business incubation program. The open house is scheduled for 4:30pm to 6pm on the Claremore campus.
A business incubator provides start-up or early phase companies with the proper environment and a variety of services to help them grow. The Innovation Center’s incubator program is geared toward growing early stage technology, light manufacturing, and professional service-based companies.
“As any entrepreneur can attest, starting a new business isn’t an easy task. Most business owners know every detail of their product or service, but may lack the skills and resources they need to turn their ideas into successful firms,” said Dr. Ray Brown, Vice President for Economic and Community Development. “Through the Innovation Center incubator program, we help businesses overcome these hurdles by providing subsidized space, office equipment, technical assistance and mentoring through our on-site business staff.” Brown said. “Another added benefit is that clients in the incubator program receive exemption from state income taxes.”
Business incubation provides entrepreneurs with an array of targeted resources and services. These services are usually developed or orchestrated by incubator management and offered both in the business incubator and through its network of contacts. A business incubator’s main goal is to produce successful firms that will leave the program financially viable and freestanding. Incubator graduates have the potential to create jobs, revitalize neighborhoods, commercialize new technologies, and strengthen local and national economies.
The public, as well as University faculty and staff, are invited to the open house. Tours of the building will be available, and visitors will be able to discuss leasing opportunities. Refreshments will be provided. Innovation Center representatives will speak briefly at 5pm about the facility and opportunities available.
Attendees can RSVP or get more information by contacting the RSU Innovation Center at 343-7533.
