RSU Hosts Allied Health Graduate School Fair March 6

Rogers State University students in the allied health degree program visited with representatives from various regional universities about graduate-level allied health degree options last week at the inaugural Allied Health Graduate School Fair, held March 6 in the Health Sciences Building on the RSU campus in Claremore.

“This was an opportunity for our (allied health) students to meet with regional schools that have graduate schools in physical therapy, occupational therapy or athletic training, which is what our allied health degree is all about,” said Brian Coley, program coordinator for allied health. “We felt it was a good idea for our students to visit with other schools and see what they have to offer in terms of their graduate programs.”

Coley said roughly a dozen universities participated in the event, including the University of Arkansas Medical School, Missouri State University, Oklahoma State University, University of Tulsa, University of Central Oklahoma, and others.

“We had a very good contingent of schools from – and outside – Oklahoma represented,” he said. “In all, I think there were probably 50 (allied health) students out of the 128 in the program who came by, which was predominantly our older students who were looking at grad schools, although there were some younger students who attended as well.

“All in all, the event went very well, better than I even expected, and the fact that we had schools outside of Oklahoma that were interested in coming speaks highly about our program,” he said.
