Rogers State University on Tuesday recognized six faculty and staff members for excellence, as well as celebrated the service of some of its longest serving employees during its annual spring convocation event.
The RSU Faculty Senate and the Faculty Development Committee recognized the work of three faculty members via the 2018-19 Faculty Excellence Award in three categories: traditional, online and adjunct. Dr. Mandy Moore, Assistant Professor of Business, received the award in the traditional category; Renee Cox, Assistant Professor of English and Humanities, received the award in the online category; and Angela Morris, adjunct professor of business, received the award in the adjunct category.
The RSU Staff Advisory Council honored the service of three staff members with its 2018-19 Staff Excellence Award. Those receiving awards were: Suzanne Perry, payroll coordinator with the Human Resources office; Vance Remington with the RSU Physical Plant; and Connie Wall with the Mail, Archives and Printing Services office.
The university also recognized the service of long-time employees who reached five, 10-, 15-, 20- and 35-year work anniversaries during the past year. Each employee received a pin denoting the period of their length of service.
Alan Lawless, Director of the Stratton Taylor Library, last year celebrated his 35th year with the university. Lawless began working at the university in July 1983 and helped guide the library into the digital era, as well as the opening of the Stratton Taylor Library in 2004.
Celebrating their 20th year of working at RSU and receiving 20-year service pins were: Dr. Hugh Foley, Professor of Fine Arts, and Kate Northcutt, Graphic Designer with the Public Relations office.
Celebrating their 15th year of working at RSU and receiving 15-year service pins were: Tonni Harrald, Senior Development Director with the RSU Development office, and Bayone Pettis, Educational Specialist with the Education Opportunity Center/TRIO based out of Oklahoma City.
Celebrating their 10th year of working at RSU and receiving 10-year service pins were: RSU Head Men’s Basketball Coach Justin Barkley; Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Richard Beck; Dr. Susan Bedwell, Program Director for RSU’s Education Opportunity Center; Clarice Doyle, Director of Development and Workforce Education for RSU TV; Catherine Heimdale, Administrative Assistant for the Communications and History/Political Science departments; Dr. Steve Housel, Associate Professor of History and Political Science; Dr. Cathy Kennemer, Head of the Department of Business; Nan Melton, Administrative Assistant for the Academic Affairs office; President Larry Rice; Dr. Kasia Roberts, Associate Professor of Chemistry; Dr. Masoud Saffarian, Associate Professor of Business; Katherine Sims, Assistant Professor of Nursing; and Dr. Craig Zimmerman, Associate Professor of Biology.
