Rogers State University invites alumni, friends and all Hillcats fans to “RSU Homecoming 2012: Paint the Town Blue.” Public events will be held Nov. 8 – 10.
The main events take place on Saturday, November 10, with the Homecoming Gameday Celebration, Homecoming basketball games and the coronation of the 2012 Homecoming King and Queen.
This year’s Gameday Celebration will feature events for all ages, including a live DJ, bouncy castle, a photobooth and more, in addition to the traditional student tailgates.
All gameday guests also are invited to purchase a ticket to the RSU Alumni Association tailgate. Full price tickets to the alumni tailgate are $25 and include lunch, provided by Billy Sims BBQ, an RSU Homecoming t-shirt, a door prize ticket and game admission. Lunch-only tickets can be purchased for $15 and extra door prize tickets can be purchased for $10. The drawing, for a 32-inch flat screen television, will be held during the tailgate.
The Hillcats will face off against Northwestern Oklahoma State University, with the women’s game tipping off at 2:00 p.m. and the men’s game following at 4:00 p.m.
The 2012 RSU Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during halftime of the men’s game. They will be joined by the Homecoming Prince and Princess from Claremont Elementary School, RSU’s partner in the Hillcub Program.
The week’s public events kick off on Thursday, November 8 with the Slam Dunk Contest and Three-Point Shootout. The Hillcats basketball teams will begin showing off their skills at 1:45 p.m. in Bushyhead Fieldhouse.
On Friday, November 9, everyone is encouraged to participate in the third annual Hillcat Hacker Invitational, benefiting the RSU Alumni Association and RSU Athletics scholarships. The Hacker is a golf-style tournament designed to put all players, from beginners to pros, on an even playing field. Players will use one club and non-destructive golf balls to navigate an 18-hole golf course layout that travels the landscape of RSU’s Claremore campus. Flights begin at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Check-in will be at the Sarkeys Terrace outside the Centennial Center. Entry fees are $50 per individual, $200 for a team and $25 per student.
The annual Homecoming bonfire, concert and cookout will take place Friday at 7:00 p.m. The band “Approaching August” will perform and the grill will be cooking. The bonfire will be located west of University Village B and is free and open to the public.
