An Rogers State University alumnus has been recognized as a 2013 Trailblazer by the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Brandon J. Vandenameele of Claremore was one of only 20 OSCPA members selected for the Trailblazer honor. Vandenameele earned two degrees from RSU, including an associate degree in accounting in 2004 and a bachelor of science in business administration, accounting option, in 2006.
He currently works as an assurance manager with HoganTaylor LLP in Tulsa, where he has been employed for the past seven years. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he is active in the community as a member of the Stewardship Committee with his church and has also been a team member for Relay for Life of Tulsa, Route 66 CPA Run and United Way Day of Caring.
The Trailblazers program was established to recognize the innovation, professional dedication and community commitment of the OSCPA’s “New CPAs,” defined as members who are under 40 or have five or fewer years of CPA experience. Vandenameele and the other Trailblazers will be honored at the OSCPA’s 95th Annual Members Meeting on July 14 in Tulsa.
“This is the fourth year for the OSCPA Trailblazer program and it has become one of the most popular awards we have in such a short time,” said Eric J. Johnson, CPA, CGMA, who serves as president of the OSCPA and was a 2010 Trailblazer. “I think it’s because it focuses on the amazing accomplishments of a group of CPAs who have pretty much just started their careers. Our Trailblazers prove that earning the CPA designation is just the starting point.”
The OSCPA accepts Trailblazer nominations during the summer and fall. A panel of OSCPA members selected 20 honorees from more than 40 nominations using an anonymous application scoring system where applicants’ identities were hidden. For more information, visit www.oscpa.com.
