Members of Rogers State University’s faculty, staff and more turned out en masse Monday, June 17, to pay tribute to departing Rogers State University President Dr. Larry Rice in an informal gathering.
Held in the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center Ballroom, the retirement reception honoring Rice and his contributions to RSU allowed faces old and new the chance to show their appreciation to Dr. Rice for his years of service to the university.
“Thank you all for being here today. I’ve had the best support team since I’ve been here, and you all are that” Dr. Rice said during his brief remarks. “It’s been a blessing to work with and know you all, and as far as RSU goes, I feel its best days are ahead. God bless you all, and God bless Rogers State University.”
Rice also shared his gratitude for his late wife, First Lady Peggy Rice, and how her dedication to the university and its students knew no bounds. He credited her with making it possible for him to lead RSU for more than 16 years.
In March 2024, Rice announced his plans to retire as president of RSU effective July 3. Following Rice’s announcement, RSU’s governing board, the OU Board of Regents, stated its intent to appoint Dr. Mark Rasor as interim president, with formal approval set to come during their June board meeting.
