The annual Faculty Art Exhibition will open in the new gallery at Rogers State University on Monday, Sept. 20, following the dedication of Baird Hall.
An opening reception for the exhibition will be held at 5 p.m. in the gallery, located on the first floor of the newly expanded and renovated Baird Hall on the RSU campus in Claremore. The public is invited to attend and refreshments will be available.
“We are pleased to unveil this new, larger gallery to showcase work by student and faculty artists, as well as exhibits by visiting artists,” said Gary Moeller, art professor, head of the Department and Fine Arts and one of the longest-serving faculty members at RSU.
The new gallery is 1,960 square feet, much larger than the previous gallery in Baird Hall.
The Faculty Art Exhibition is presented each fall, featuring the best work of RSU faculty members in all media. The exhibition will remain in the gallery through Oct. 15.
This year, the exhibition will include a large installation utilizing sculpture, photography and other media by Bryce Brimer, five framed screen prints and books by graphic artist Denny Schmickle, three photography prints by Kirk Weller and two oil paintings by Moeller.
The exhibition also will include work by RSU adjunct faculty members, including photography by Susan McKee, photography and mixed media by Della Easton, pottery by Linda Coward, a large mixed-media installation by Randy Narcomey, oil paintings by DeAnn Matheny and an oil painting, serigraph and etching by Steve Rosser.
Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call (918) 343-7740.
