Faculty members who teach art at Rogers State University will showcase their work at the annual RSU Faculty Art Exhibition Aug. 16 through Sept. 7.
At the beginning of each fall semester, full-time and adjunct faculty members who teach courses in art display their work in the Foundations Gallery in Baird Hall on the RSU campus in Claremore.
“The faculty art exhibition has become an annual rite of passage in the fall,” said Gary Moeller, longtime professor of art at RSU.
This fall’s Faculty Art Exhibition runs from Thursday, Aug. 16, through Friday, Sept. 7, in the gallery. An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16. The public is invited to attend.
The exhibition will feature a variety of media, including sculpture, photography, computer graphics, drawing, painting and mixed media work.
This year’s exhibition will not only feature visual art, but will include the work of faculty members who specialize in music, Native American studies and art theory.
The exhibition will include sculptures and graphic design by Bryce Brimer, posters and graphic design by Denny Schmickle, paintings of Gary Moeller and Kren Bennett, photographs by Dom Emrick and Susan McKee, sculpture by Joni Younkins-Herzog and printmaking and mixed media by Mary Jane Porter.
In addition, original sheet music by Joseph Cernuto, art theory quotations by Dr. Michael McKeon and Native American objects from Dr. Hugh Foley will be displayed.
Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call (918) 343-7740.
