Rogers State University students, faculty and staff will be washing cars on Thursday, July 1, at Reasor’s in Claremore to help purchase crayons for students at Claremont Elementary School.
The car wash will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of Reasor’s Food Store, located at 1000 W. Will Rogers Blvd.
Cash donations will be accepted and all proceeds from the car wash will be used to purchase crayons for Claremont students for the upcoming school year.
The Crayola Drive is the first project of the RSU Adoption of Claremont Elementary School, which will be formally announced this fall.
“We would like to encourage everyone to come let us wash their cars and trucks for a good cause,” said Marisa Littlefield, chairperson of the RSU – Claremont Elementary School adoption committee. “Our goal is to acquire 1,450 boxes of Crayolas for Claremont students in an effort to help their parents with one of the many costs of going back to school.”
Several RSU student organizations will be participating in the car wash, including the Student Government Association, Campus Activities Team, Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature, the Organization Advocating for the Rights of Students, Pi Kappa Alpha, the President’s Leadership Class and the Biology Club.
RSU staff and faculty members are encouraged to sign up to volunteer for the car wash by calling Littlefield at 343-6816.
In addition to the car wash, donations of Crayolas are being accepted at several locations on the RSU campus, including Pershing Hall, Meyer Hall, Health Sciences Building and the Centennial Center.
