Rogers State University will hold a May 13th workshop to assist business owners and operators with understanding financial information – even if they don’t have an accounting background.
RSU’s Center for Economic and Community Development will host the “Financial Information For Non-Accountants” workshop 6-9 p.m., on Thursday, May 13, in Herrington Hall, Room 130. The workshop is free and open to interested business owners, managers and entrepreneurs.
The workshop will be conducted by Bob Price, business development specialist with RSU’s Center for Economic and Community Development. Price has more than 30 years of business experience and has held accounting positions with several large corporations.
The workshop will help participants understand and evaluate profit and loss statements, revenue, cost of sales, margin, expenses, operating income, interest expense, depreciation and amortization, income before taxes, taxes and net profit after taxes.
“The intent of this workshop is to assist business people or entrepreneurs who have not had accounting training and who are, candidly, at sea with the financial side of the business,” Price said.
Also this month, the center will host a “Federal and State Taxes for Small Business” workshop 6-9 p.m., Thursday, April 29, in Herrington Hall, Room 130. Bob Fitzgerald, a CPA from Sand Springs, will discuss federal and state taxes required by small businesses, as well as bookkeeping practices for small businesses.
