Rogers State University has experienced another semester of record enrollment with 4,484 students.
The fall enrollment figure represents an overall 4.4 percent increase in headcount and student credit hours at the university, compared to last fall.
“This is the largest number of students who have ever attended RSU,” said President Larry Rice. “The strong, steady growth in enrollment over the last several years is a testament to the institution’s high level of academic and programmatic quality.”
This fall, 2,821 students are attending classes at the main campus in Claremore, an increase of 3.8 percent. The university will break ground on a new student apartment complex later this month to accommodate the rapid growth.
Enrollment increased by 13 percent at the RSU campus in Bartlesville, representing the highest rate of growth at the university. Currently, 436 students take classes solely at the Bartlesville campus (unduplicated enrollment.) However, when taking into account students in the Bartlesville area who take classes online or at more than one RSU campus, enrollment in Bartlesville exceeds 1,000 students.
Enrollment decreased by 8.1 percent at RSU in Pryor, with 251 students enrolled at that campus. The decrease was anticipated after a large segment of adult students who lost their jobs in the Pryor area completed their education, Rice said. However, the number of freshmen enrolled at the Pryor campus increased by more than 10 percent.
Enrollment increased by 5.9 percent in the RSU Online program, with 975 students, representing the largest number of students pursuing their education online in school history. RSU recently added its ninth degree available completely online – a bachelor of science in business administration, with an option in management.
