RSU Announces Major Fall Enrollment Increases

Rogers State University has announced significant enrollment growth for the fall semester, earning the institution the title of Oklahoma’s fastest-growing university for the last four years.

This fall, 3,778 students are enrolled in classes at RSU, compared to 3,578 students last fall, an increase of 5.6 percent.

Since gaining accreditation as a four-year university in 2000, RSU has experienced enrollment growth of 44 percent, the highest of any college or university in Oklahoma.

Enrollment figures increased across the board at the university this fall. The number of student credit hours at the university has increased by 5.7 percent, indicating that more students are enrolled on a full-time basis. The number of first-time freshmen entering the university is 920 this fall, compared to 898 last fall, an increase of 2.5 percent. The number of first-time freshmen enrolled full-time increased by 7.5 percent. And the number of upperclassmen (juniors and seniors) is 1,042 this fall, compared to 932 last fall, an increase of 12 percent.

“The high rate of enrollment growth is evidence of the need and demand for higher education in northeast Oklahoma,” said RSU President Dr. Joe Wiley. “RSU is meeting that demand by expanding educational opportunities for area residents and by providing a well-educated workforce in support of economic development.”

RSU offers bachelor’s degrees in applied technology, biology – medical and molecular, biology – environmental conservation, business administration – accounting, business administration – management, business information technology – software development and multimedia, business information technology – computer network administration, communications – corporate communications, communications – radio and television, justice administration with an available law enforcement emphasis, liberal arts, social science – history and political science, and social science – psychology and sociology. The university also offers a wide variety of associate’s degrees, including art, education and nursing.
