A Rogers State University accounting student has received a boost to finish her degree thanks to a $500 scholarship from the 2014 Oklahoma Accounting Educators Conference.
Julie Healy of Bartlesville is on track to graduate with her bachelor’s degree in business administration-accounting in December. The former educator spent 15 years as a teacher before enrolling at RSU.
“I love numbers and I love to learn,” said Healy. “The classes at RSU are challenging, but my professors have been there to help me every step of the way.”
Married with two children, Healy said the OAE scholarship will help pay for her final RSU semester.
The OAE scholarship was awarded in conjunction with its annual conference, held earlier this spring at RSU. The daylong conference provided an opportunity for practitioners and educators to learn more about issues facing the accounting field.
“One part of the conference is the opportunity to recognize an outstanding accounting student,” said RSU Associate Professor Dr. Masoud Saffarian. “Julie is definitely deserving of this honor. She is consistently at the top of her class and has a bright future ahead of her.”
Upon graduation, Healy hopes to seek employment as an accountant with ConocoPhillips.
