March brings the annual spring engagement between members of PsiChi at Rogers State University and community members at the Rogers County Adult Day Care Center. The Day Center is a nonprofit organization designed to provide services benefitting adults with disabilities and their caregivers.
This year the groups joined together to make bunny ear hats and play Velcro tic tac toe. In addition to arts and games, the groups enjoyed nutritious snacks provided by PsiChi and the chance to interact in a safe and warm spirited environment. Dr. Chrissy Whiting and PsiChi advisors Dr. Kevin Woller and Dr. Sonya Munsell were present and active participants.
Faculty advisors guide the group in developing community programming with Dr. Woller stating “this is not only a chance for students to gain experience related to their future careers, but also learning to give back to the community in which they live.”
PsiChi is the International Honor Society in Psychology. The RSU chapter currently has 25 members with initiation of new members scheduled for April 20.
