OETA-The Oklahoma Network has announced that RSU President Dr. Larry Rice was appointed to the network’s board of directors.
In accordance with Oklahoma Statue, Section 70-23-105, the Oklahoma State Regents of Higher Education’s four-year university presidents must identify a four-year college president to sit on the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority board. Rice’s selection fills a vacancy created by the retirement of Cameron University President Cindy Ross.
“Public television is a vital service that enriches the cultural lives of Oklahomans and plays an important role in advancing dialogue on state and local issues,” Rice said. “Rogers State University has a 25-year history of operating a full-power public television station from its Claremore campus, and I hope that I can bring to bear some of our institution’s experiences through my service on the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority Board of Directors. I am very happy to serve on the OETA Board.”
Rice also serves on the boards of the Oklahoma Academy and Boys and Girls Clubs of Green Country, Inc., and he has served on a number of government boards and commissions, including the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission.
Dan Schiedel, OETA executive director and former general manager for RSU Public Television, praised Rice’s selection to the board.
“Dr. Rice is a good man, great to work with,” Schiedel said. “He has extraordinary education expertise, and we are delighted that he is joining OETA’s board of directors.”
Rice joins fellow OETA board members, Dr. Janet Barresi, David Boren, Burns Hargis, Lisa Harbison, Elaine Hobson, Brent Houston, Dr. Glen Johnson, Fritz Kiersch, Suzanne Lair, Dr. Jerry Nigh, Clarke Stroud and Dr. Jim Utterback.
