The University of Oklahoma Board of Regents has approved increases in some student fees at Rogers State University.
The OU regents – RSU’s governing board – approved an increase of 25 cents per credit hour for RSU’s library automation and materials fee, a one dollar increase for the technology services fee and a three dollar increase in the student facility fee. If approved by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, the new fees will go into effect in the fall of 2003.
“We have tried to keep our fee structure as low as possible,” said RSU President Joe Wiley. “Many of our fees have not been changed since 1995. However, we must implement these slight increases to provide academic resources and services that our students need, including library research materials, computer and science labs and recreational and wellness facilities that enhance the college experience.”
The library automation and materials fee, which will increase from $2 per credit hour to $2.25 per credit hour, will be utilized to purchase books and other learning materials for the library. Additional revenue is expected to be approximately $16,400 per year.
The technology services fee, which will increase from $6 per credit hour to $7 per credit hour, will be used to enhance computer labs, science labs and technology services for all students. The increase in revenue is anticipated to be about $65,400 per year.
The student facility fee, which will go from $4.30 per credit hour to $7.30 per credit hour, will be used to enhance the quality of life for RSU students, including relocation and renovation of the Student Union and the development of a student health care center at RSU. The new student union, which will be located in the current RSU Library facility, will feature a food court, enlarged bookstore and recreational facilities. Revenue from the facility fee is expected to be around $94,000 per year.
All new fees are at or below the levels established by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
