Rogers State University has received initial approval to offer a new human resources option for its bachelor’s degree in business administration.
The University of Oklahoma Board of Regents, which is RSU’s governing body, approved the degree option during its May 13 meeting. The proposal next will be sent to the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education for consideration.
University officials estimated the human resources option in business administration could be offered as soon as the fall 2005 semester.
“There has been a considerable demand from students and employers to develop a program enabling our graduates to excel in the quick-paced and ever-changing human resources field,” said Dr. Bruce Garrison, dean of RSU’s School of Business and Technology. Garrison noted that the demand for this degree option was empirically supported in RSU student surveys, enrollment trends in business administration, demographic data and occupational outlooks.
The human resources option builds upon the foundation coursework of the bachelor of science in business administration, with 21 hours of specialization through classes in organizational behavior, human resources management, human resources development, compensation and benefits, employment and labor, selection and evaluation, and risk management.
RSU also offers accounting and management options for its bachelor’s degree program in business administration.
