Rogers State University accounting senior Shelby Tracy has been selected to receive a scholarship from the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants.
RSU faculty member P.J. Gorden was recently named the OSCPA’s 2013 Educator of the Year, which includes a scholarship that she can award to a student of her choice. This is the second year RSU faculty have earned the education award.
An Owasso resident, Tracy will graduate in May with a bachelor’s degree in forensic accounting. A student member of the OSCPA and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), Tracy would like to pursue a career as a Federal Bureau of Investigation fraud investigator.
Gorden said she has been impressed with the hard work and positive attitude show by Tracy, who is a single mother that has put herself through school.
With four hours left to complete, Tracy will be taking the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam soon. She also plans to take the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) test and the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) by the end of this year. Tracy plans to attend graduate school and will apply the scholarship to her pursuit of an MBA from the University of Oklahoma.
