Rogers State University recently added a new student organization to campus – the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS). With 250 members among RSU’s Claremore, Pryor and Bartlesville campuses, the NSLS is among the largest organizations on campus.
The group focuses on transforming college students into future leaders and influencing students’ lives by helping them achieve their goals through leadership and success training. The NSLS is the nation’s largest achievement honor society, with students selectively invited to join based on their academic achievement and leadership potential.
Dr. Robert Goltra III, vice president for student affairs and admissions services, and Dr. Earlene Washburn, assistant professor of business, co-sponsor NSLS with the objective to provide members with a wealth of resources, including access to scholarships, professional communication training, letters of recommendation, interviewing skills, student networking teams and speaker broadcasts.
“We are very pleased to accommodate all students equally regardless of campus locations, online or classroom students, accessibility needs, culture, socio economic, and much more,” Goltra said. “Our goal is to provide NSLS members with a wealth of resources, including professional communication training.”
NSLS helps students identify career goals, develop their leadership goals and turn their ambitions into actions. As an organization member, students become part of a community of like-minded success-driven people with access to professional leadership training, exclusive scholarships, an online job bank, networking events, a celebrity speaker series, enhancement of professional resumes and more.
“We are very pleased to adopt an organization that serves all students equally regardless of their accessibility, that accommodates students at all three RSU campus locations, or whether the students work online from New York to California or Afghanistan,” Washburn said. “We can also accommodate all preferred learning modalities, such as online, in person, blended, or video conferencing, and successfully accommodate RSU student-athletes or busy non-traditional students. The innovation of this scholastic organization eliminates no one. The method of delivery perfectly aligns with our students’ preferences.”
RSU students recently inducted into leadership positions within the organization include Ronnie Epperlly (president), Shannon Smith (vice-president), Kelsey Walenciak (treasurer), Brock Green (publicity chair), and Ricardo Salazar Alanis (Success Networking Team coordinator). RSU Student Activities Coordinator Katie Anderson serves as support staff.
NSLS Publicity Chair Brock Green was excited to be inducted into the organization and to serve as an officer.
“Thank you, Rogers State University, for the recognition of hard work,” Green said, upon his induction into the organization. “I’m very humbled to have received membership to the National Society of Leadership and Success.”
