After serving as Rogers State’s Vice President for Student Affairs for nearly five years, Dr. Brent Marsh announced Wednesday he will step down July 22 to become the assistant vice chancellor for student affairs and dean of students at the University of Mississippi.
RSU President Dr. Larry Rice praised Marsh’s leadership during his time at RSU.
“Brent brought a tremendous amount of positive energy to both our campuses and to the communities we serve,” Rice said. “Through his high level of professionalism, he fostered a productive and enthusiastic campus culture in the student affairs division and beyond. While we will miss his leadership, we recognize this is a good step for his career and wish him much success in his future endeavors.”
At RSU, Marsh led the student affairs office providing oversight of career services, counseling services, disability services, student health center, residential life, student activities, student development, TRIO-EOC, GEAR UP, and the university’s new esports program. He chaired the Threat Assessment Response Committee, provided leadership for campus emergency responses and oversaw RSU’s gender-based misconduct policy for students. He also co-led the development of a new student pilot program as part of RSU’s new first-year and transfer experience initiative to help prepare incoming students for college.
Active at both the local and national level, Marsh was a graduate of Leadership Rogers County and serves on its board of directors and also serves on the national board of directors for NASPA, a national organization for student affairs professionals in higher education.
“The past five years of service at RSU have been personally and professionally fulfilling and stimulating,” Marsh said. “I have learned and grown as a professional in countless ways, thanks in no small part to the many administrators, students, faculty, staff, and community members with whom I have had the privilege of interacting. I appreciate Dr. Rice’s leadership and support, and certainly wish him and the entire RSU family much success in the future.”
Marsh begins Aug. 1 at the University of Mississippi where he will be responsible for supervisory oversight for the Ole Miss Student Union, student support and advocacy, Greek life, and student conduct.
RSU will conduct a comprehensive search for Marsh’s replacement.
