The first-ever Giving Week at Rogers State University exceeded expectations in not only the amount of money raised for scholarships and programs, but in the widespread participation of donors.
Giving Week, sponsored by the Rogers State University Foundation, coincided with Homecoming and sought to raise $20,000 to celebrate RSU’s 20th anniversary of becoming an accredited four-year university.
“By every measure, Giving Week was a success,” Steve Valencia, vice president for development, said. “The support shown by our faculty and staff, alumni and friends, was incredible. Our commitment to ‘Students First’ was clearly proven during the week.”
Gifts during Giving Week totaled $22,644, surpassing the original goal by 13 percent. The total includes a $10,000 matching gift provided by an anonymous donor.
Ninety-three donors provided gifts during the week, including 42 who made their first-ever gift to RSU.
RSU employees also made a significant impact during the week with 58 employees giving back, including five employees who committed to sustained giving through payroll deductions or who increased the amount given through current deductions.
Valencia said Giving Week will become an annual event for the RSU Foundation.
