Claremore High School senior Lauren Froese became the seventh player to sign with the Rogers State women’s basketball program on Tuesday morning.
A standout at CHS, Froese helped the Lady Zebras reach the state championship game the last two seasons.
“We’re excited that Lauren has decided to stay home and play for RSU,” said Amy Williams, RSU head women’s basketball coach. “Claremore has incredible tradition in girl’s basketball and we’re fortunate to have the opportunity to bring in a player from such a successful program.”
Froese joins six other players who have signed a letter of intent to play for the Hillcats in 2007-08. Prep signees Hunter Peterson and Bailey Woods made their commitments official along with junior college transfers Tasha Parker, Erica Taylor, Ashley Coleman and Megan Knowles. Williams said she has a number of other verbal commitments and hopes to wrap up her first recruiting season in the next few weeks.
The Hillcats will compete as a member of the Sooner Athletic Conference in 2007-08 and will player their home basketball games at the Claremore Expo Center. An exhibition contest is scheduled for Nov. 5 with the season opener slated for Nov. 8.
